Overture
Web and iOS development
Overture is a news and publishing project I've worked on across the web, backend, and a native iOS app. It brings together article reading, editorial tools, and rocket launch information.
What I've worked on
- Integrating a content-management system into the web application, bringing editorial and reader-facing code into one runtime.
- Publication caching and search behavior.
- Native article and launch-detail interfaces in SwiftUI.
- A cached proxy for launch information and cached map snapshots for launch sites.
Handling uncertain launch schedules
Launch information isn't always an exact timestamp. A launch may have only a tentative window, and the interface needs to preserve that uncertainty. I worked on displaying schedules at the precision provided by the source, rather than presenting an exact date when one wasn't available.
Working across the stack
This project has involved both feature development and debugging existing behavior. One production issue was a failure to load article images; I investigated the problem, fixed it, and checked that the homepage images rendered correctly.
The publishing integration and launch-data work also involved local builds and simulator validation. Those pieces reached different stages, rather than shipping as one release.
